Green Hills Software circulated a stock option plan in October of 1996.  I was in our bedroom, digging dirty clothes out of the hamper when he came in excitedly waving the 2 page document in my face.  He told me several times he was the most valuable employee at GHS.  I knew that was true.  Dan has no sense of humor and would never have put up with him otherwise.

Craig signed the agreement right there and began handwriting on the document.  He read it to me. I was still sorting dirty clothes.  The stock was awarded in very different amounts to each employee.  Craig told me he had brought in more money and went into detail about why he was the most valuable player.  All employees offered options got the same agreement.  The only thing that differed was the number of options granted with a strike price of $1.00 a share.

When Craig left I was surprised to learn Dan had gotten an attorney to write a new stock option agreement, just for him.  It said, 'future, future, future."  You can read the transcript.

Later I learned the source of that language was Jacqueline Misho.  GHS refused to produce the agreements signed by other employees.  They were rather nasty about it.  The only reason for that degree of paranoia is fear of being caught.
