Andrew Frankel

Andrew Frankel recently returned from a tour of Iraq.  The picture above was taken in the rubble of Uday Hussein's house.  I have eaten dinner with Andy a couple of times in New York.  This picture is from Facebook, where we are friends. 

I liked Andy and found it incredible he was a friend of John Fund's.  Andy seems to be a thoroughly nice guy, thoughtful, intelligent, and good hearted. 

While talking to Andy, who grew up with Fund in Fair Oaks, California, Andy told me he is a member of the Council on Foreign Relations.  That surprised me, causing a quick google search for his name associated with the group.  I found his name on This Page as a member  since 1992.  His bio on this site, The Council for Emerging National Security Affairs, is here, under the "F."  Reading Andy's longer resume was also interesting. 

Over dinner Andy told me about a recent experience with John, This must have happened before 2003, which touches on the group, and caused him to wonder about his old friend. 

Andy said he told John he was a member of the Council on Foreign Relations and something about his activities with the group.  That part does not matter.  But what puzzled Andy was this.  soon after Andy had his conversation with John about his membership in the CFR the two attended the same  party.  As  he stood there  in a small cluster of partiers John told those listening that he, John, was a member of the CFR, repeating the story Andy had told him about himself as if it had happened to him, John. 

Andy, obviously puzzled and perplexed, asked me why John would do this knowing he, Andy, was listening.  It occurred to me recently that the behavior described is psychopathic.
