Daniel O'Dowd

Father of two sons
CEO and Founder of Green Hills Software
Dan O'Dowd, founded Green Hills Software in 1982 and has been its President and Chief Executive Officer since its inception. Before founding Green Hills Software, Mr. O'Dowd was manager of compiler and operating system development at National Semiconductor.
His life long ambition was to have more money than Bill Gates. Notice his haircut. That is as close as he is going to get.
In 1985 Craig purchased some GHS products and recommended them to others. Craig ignored their marketing, reading the code himself. That saved Dan from going back to his VC, Glenn Hightower for more funding. If that had happened his own share would have been badly diluted. O'Dowd was determined to bring Craig on board and hired him in 1986. After Franklin came on board the financial profile of GHS changed dramatically.
As CEO O'Dowd was always aware Franklin was not filing tax returns and so was being constantly garnisheed. O'Dowd made loans available to keep Franklin afloat financially and at the company. Prior to his employment at GHS Franklin moved on regularly.
The O'Dowds moved from their million dollar house in Santa Barbara to an estate in Montecito two years ago paying over seven million for the place. As with Bernie Madoff few know now what will soon be common knowledge. When the light goes on those who profited from the practices of psychopathic corporate culture shrivel.
